    WW2 German ‘Potato Masher’ – M24 Stielhandgranate

Known as the ‘Potato Masher’  – Model 1924 Stielhandgranate

FULLY INERT  – NO MOVING PARTS OR DANGEROUS PARTS.

The M24 is well known as the standard hand grenade of the armed forces of the Wehrmacht during World War II.

Adapting to the rapidly changing field of modern warfare, German soldiers would carry the M24 directly in front, allowing quick and easy access. However, in the later years of the war, it was often advised to carry them in a different manner, as it was very likely any sort of explosion or heat could light the fuse from the grenade on the belt, resulting in unnecessary casualties.

This example is in amazing condition, marked and dated for 1943 on the handle. It is complete with a fragmentation sleeve, original pull cord with porcelain ball, Fully inert!

The head, frag sleeve bottom cap and handle all able to be disassembled.

Nearly all of its original paint remains.

Head is maker marked DBK Richard Rinker GmbH, Neubrandenburg in Mecklenburg

Wooden Handle marked FCC : Nier, Hermann, Metallwarenfabrik, Beierfeld in Sachsen
