Amazing Picture! RK U- 553! Mystery U boat! 

This amazing picture taken when the crew of U 553 were about to leave La Palace in France. 

It would there there last mission, they never returned, their fate is unknown. 

There last message on 16.Jan.1943 –

‘’ Seerohr unklar’’ (periscope not clear). 

U553 was never heard from again.

Pictured is the full crew unboard, clearly you can see Korvettenkapitän Karl Thurmann – RK.

He won the Knightscross for sinking a total of 12 Merchant ships in ten patrols.
