A nice grouping for Johann Steigerwald, Catholic born 1889 in Bayern.

Contents:
- Military Passbook / Service Record – Opened with 17 Infanterie Regiment Orff – 1914 service – Reserve Infanterie Regiment Nr 40 (55. Reserve-Infanterie-Brigade, 28th Reserve Division) . The 28th Reserve Division spent World War I on the Western Front. It fought in the Battle of the Frontiers and then participated in the Race to the Sea, fighting in the Somme region. It occupied the line in the Artois region from October 1914 to August 1916, and then fought in the Battle of the Somme. (August 1914 till October 1914). Back with them again on August 1916 – Fighting in Riga, Kowel, Arges, Bucharest, Battle for Rimminicul Sarat, Putna, Sereth, Romania till 1917 surrender. Western Front 1918 – Captured in Soissons France. Noted in his pass in fact he was reported missing but now turned up in Frankfurt at the Red Cross.

- Four Photos – Large studio photo of Steigerwald in the 17 Infanterie Regiment Orff – Photo of unit with mortars, 1918 early in Rumania, One photo sent in 1917 from Stiegerwald, depicting a scene with band and officers very interesting photo worthy of further research.
- WW2 Work Book – worked for a building company till the end of WW2.
- WW2 Wehrpass – Heer/Wehrmacht stamped – issued in Aschaffenburg 1943, WW1 Service recorded, with nice photo of Steigerwald. Note of his promotion in WW1 to NCO.
A really nice set, both fronts in WW1, issued WW2 paperwork and with his photos. This little set is not the everyday find any longer.
