War Merit Cross in Box of Issue
This is a beautiful late World War II War Merit Cross 1st class with swords by Steinhauer & Luck (maker’s mark 4) in its original embossed Issue box. The War Merit Cross first class was one step below the Iron Cross first Class, and the version with swords and was awarded to enlistees who demonstrated service above the call of duty (civilians could receive the cross without swords).
Condition – Box mint, Cross is in VGC.
