Born in 1903 into a protestant family, he was a normal worker and was married.Â
His Soldbuch was issued on the 6th of April 1945!Â
This last ditch Soldbuch is a hard cover version, with no pouches and is of not great quality reflective of the situation at the time. Â
His frontline unit was:Â
Bau-Pionier-Ersatz- und Ausbildungs-Bataillon 3
According to the Lexicon der Wehrmacht, his unit was thrown into action on the Oder Front in April 1945.Â
He seems to have been in a hospital in July of 1945, a lucky man to have survived the onslaught unleashed on the Oder…Â
